I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from the University of Florida in 1999. I obtained a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in School Counseling in 2007. I went on to obtain a Doctorate of Education in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University in 2014. I am a firm believer in the human potential for change and growth while understanding the importance of the role of a supportive adult to foster and bolster change. I take great pride in the opportunities entrusted to me by families and individuals to support their decisions to make life changings resolutions.
My counseling style is comprised of a combination of theories and approaches all of which rely on the resourcefulness and potential of the individual. These theories include Carl Rogers’ Person Centered Therapy, Steve de Shazer and Insoo Kim Berg’s Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Aaron Beck’s Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I am also a huge proponent of advocating for the use of a multi-faceted self-care regimen and finding balance in everyday life. I am currently a Licensed Registered Mental Health Intern with the State of Florida and a Full time Professional School Counselor in Duval County. I have over seven years’ experience working in social services dealing with issues of adoption and over nine years’ experience working with children and families in the school setting dealing with various issues such as anxiety, depression, divorce, death and dying, bullying, identification of learning disabilities and giftedness, development of accommodation and interventions to address both academic and behavioral issues such as hyperactivity, oppositional behaviors, attention seeking behaviors, and behaviors that would be considered harmful to self and others.
